Welcome to the latest Data Space Brief. |
July 2026 |
Implementation, governance, and defence – this edition covers three developments that show how data spaces are becoming embedded in Europe's industrial and policy architecture. From a large-scale study on industrial onboarding to updated governance rules, a new phase of European support infrastructure, and a sovereign defence data platform, the ecosystem is moving rapidly from framework to function.

DSSC Phase 2:
From blueprint to implementation
|
The Data Spaces Support Centre (DSSC) has launched its second phase under the Digital Europe Programme, with a clear shift in focus: from defining what data spaces are to making them work in practice – accessible, sustainable, and open to organizations of all sizes. |
The DSSC supports the initiatives building and operating Common European Data Spaces (CEDS). In Phase 2, a core part of that work is ensuring those initiatives are designed in ways that SMEs can actually join.
